2016 Dart vs. 2016 Civic in San Marcos

Posted by Jessica McFall on Thu, Jul 21, 2016 @ 09:44 PM

You've found yourself on the Honda San Marcos blog because you're exploring options for your next new car! The decision to buy a new car is a lot bigger than deciding what you're going to have for lunch today, so it should require a little more consideration and time. Lucky for you, we love educating our customers on new cars, and today is no different! We're looking at the good, bad and ugly of the 2016 Dart and the 2016 Civic in San Marcos in a quest to find out which one comes out on top. Let's go!

Fuel Economy

If fuel economy and efficiency is important to you, it's safer to go with the 2016 Civic in San Marcos. Both the Civic and Dart have 2.0 4. Cylinder/Manual transmissions in the most basic mode, but the Civic gets 27 city/40 hwy MPG while the Dart only gets 25 city/36 hwy MPG*. In addition to better fuel efficiency, the Civic doesn't require premium gas like the Dart, which can save you 20-55 cents/gallon.

Safety

The 2016 Honda Civic has a few more safety features than the 2016 Dodge Dart. For example, the Civic has vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors that alert the smart airbags in the Civic to deploy with different levels of force to protect passengers of different sizes. The Dart's airbags deploy at full force every time. The Civic also has optional Collision Mitigation Braking System and a lane departure warning system. The Dart doesn't have either of these as an option. Both vehicles have standard driver, passenger, side-impact, and side-impact head airbags.

Passenger and Cargo Space

Worried about space in a "compact car"? The Civic doesn't feel so compact with 39.3 inches of headroom in the front, and 37.1 in the rear seating area! Holding 5 passengers, the Civic has 97.8 cubic feet of cargo room and 15.1 cubic feet of cargo room. The Dart only has 13.1 cubic feet of cargo capacity, and its passenger volume is unlisted (which we can only assume means that it doesn't compare).

Misc. Features

We've said it before and we'll say it again – not all cars are created equal even if they are the same model year! In this case, the Civic is way ahead of the game in terms of technology and features. The Civic has front power windows, standards power locks (which the Dart has, but costs extra), standard power remote mirrors, standard Bluetooth wireless, standard HondaLink, available front heated seats, and so much more.

With better space, safety features, fuel efficiency and features, you can't beat the 2016 Civic in San Marcos. The Dart has some great offerings, but it just can't stand a chance next to the new Civic! Receive top customer service and test drive this new and improved Civic at Honda San Marcos today!

What is the Top SUV in San Marcos?

Posted by Jessica McFall on Wed, Apr 27, 2016 @ 06:11 PM

Welcome to another Honda of San Marcos car comparison! Today we're looking for the top SUV in San Marcos, and we hope you are too. SUVs are especially popular in the summer time because of their ability to off-road, withstand weather of any kind, and have a little extra space for those long, summer road trips! Do you have your eye on a certain SUV? If so, start with a clean slate as we aim to discover which SUV tops all of them. Today we're comparing the 2016 CR-V and the 2016 RAV4!

The great thing about both of these SUVs is that they are family friendly, but have fun ergonomic features, too. However, the CR-V just has more to offer than the RAV4 does, which makes it the overall the best choice. The CR-V has power windows that open or close with a tap of the control, power mirrors, optional rear vents and automatic folding seats. All of these features combined make the 2016 CR-V convenient and comfortable!

In addition to comfort, the RAV4 can't compare to the 2016 CR-V's safety ratings. With a 5-star front crash rating from the IIHS for both the driver and passenger, you'll never feel unsafe in the CR-V. On the other hand, the RAV4 can only boast a 4-star crash safety rating. I think we can all agree here that one star can make a difference! It's not only the crash test that the CR-V scored a perfect rating on, it was also recognized as an IIHS "Top Pick Plus" for 2015, an award that was only given to 68 vehicles. The RAV4, although safe, only received a standard "Top Pick" for 2015.

Now if you are planning on taking a few trips this summer, or maybe you just find yourself in the car more often than not, fuel efficiency is more than likely on the top of your list. At this point you may have already figured out what the top SUV of San Marcos is, and it doesn't stop at safety and convenience. Yes, the 2016 CR-V is also more fuel-efficient than the RAV4! With 27 city/33 hwy MPG with the CR-V's 2WD automatic transmission, you could go miles and miles with out having to fill up! The RAV4 gets less MPG, which could add up later on.

It's clear which vehicle reigns as the top SUV in San Marcos after this comparison, and it is the 2016 Honda CR-V! If you see yourself in this versatile, fuel-efficient, convenient CR-V, stop by Honda San Marcos today!

San Marcos Sedans: 2016 Accord vs. 2016 Altima

Posted by Jessica McFall on Wed, Mar 16, 2016 @ 06:34 PM

Welcome to another Honda of San Marcos car comparison! Today we're comparing two of the most popular San Marcos sedans, the 2016 Honda Accord and the 2016 Nissan Altima. Both have a lot to offer, but which will be crowned the top sedan on the market? Let's take a look!

You want to buy a car that is safe on the road, right? Although both sedans are safe, the 2016 Honda Accord has much better safety ratings. In the IIHS 40 MPG small overlap frontal offset crash test, the 2016 Accord had an overall "Good" evaluation and a "Good" rating for the lower leg evaluation. Meanwhile, the 2016 Altima had an overall "Acceptable" evaluation and a "Poor" lower leg evaluation. Also, the Accord was recognized by IIHS as a 2015 "Top Pick Plus." The Altima? It was only a standard "Top Pick" and did not receive the highest score.

You'll also have a smoother ride in the 2016 Accord. The Accord has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The Altima doesn't offer this. The Altima also doesn't offer the Accord's drift compensation steering automatically switches to adjust to dangerous road conditions, which is something that could really come in handy this season!

If safety and a smooth ride are important to you but you're more interested in the features, the 2016 Honda Accord beats the Altima in cool built-ins. With the Accord EX-L Touring, you'll have memory seats that are activated with one touch of your keyless remote! For those rainy days, the Accord has standard windshield wipers that turn on and off according to the amount of rainfall, this is not available in the 2016 Altima. Lastly, although both sedans offer front heated seats, the Accord Touring has standard heated rear seats for those passengers in the back. No one is ever uncomfortable in the 2016 Honda Accord!

It's unarguable that the 2016 Honda Accord is the top out of these San Marcos sedans. It's clear that the Accord has overall more options, better safety and technology features than the Altima has. Agree with us? Give us a shout at Honda San Marcos if you're ready to take this fabulous sedan for a test drive!
