2016 Dart vs. 2016 Civic in San Marcos

Posted by Jessica McFall on Thu, Jul 21, 2016 @ 09:44 PM

You've found yourself on the Honda San Marcos blog because you're exploring options for your next new car! The decision to buy a new car is a lot bigger than deciding what you're going to have for lunch today, so it should require a little more consideration and time. Lucky for you, we love educating our customers on new cars, and today is no different! We're looking at the good, bad and ugly of the 2016 Dart and the 2016 Civic in San Marcos in a quest to find out which one comes out on top. Let's go!

Fuel Economy

If fuel economy and efficiency is important to you, it's safer to go with the 2016 Civic in San Marcos. Both the Civic and Dart have 2.0 4. Cylinder/Manual transmissions in the most basic mode, but the Civic gets 27 city/40 hwy MPG while the Dart only gets 25 city/36 hwy MPG*. In addition to better fuel efficiency, the Civic doesn't require premium gas like the Dart, which can save you 20-55 cents/gallon.

Safety

The 2016 Honda Civic has a few more safety features than the 2016 Dodge Dart. For example, the Civic has vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors that alert the smart airbags in the Civic to deploy with different levels of force to protect passengers of different sizes. The Dart's airbags deploy at full force every time. The Civic also has optional Collision Mitigation Braking System and a lane departure warning system. The Dart doesn't have either of these as an option. Both vehicles have standard driver, passenger, side-impact, and side-impact head airbags.

Passenger and Cargo Space

Worried about space in a "compact car"? The Civic doesn't feel so compact with 39.3 inches of headroom in the front, and 37.1 in the rear seating area! Holding 5 passengers, the Civic has 97.8 cubic feet of cargo room and 15.1 cubic feet of cargo room. The Dart only has 13.1 cubic feet of cargo capacity, and its passenger volume is unlisted (which we can only assume means that it doesn't compare).

Misc. Features

We've said it before and we'll say it again – not all cars are created equal even if they are the same model year! In this case, the Civic is way ahead of the game in terms of technology and features. The Civic has front power windows, standards power locks (which the Dart has, but costs extra), standard power remote mirrors, standard Bluetooth wireless, standard HondaLink, available front heated seats, and so much more.

With better space, safety features, fuel efficiency and features, you can't beat the 2016 Civic in San Marcos. The Dart has some great offerings, but it just can't stand a chance next to the new Civic! Receive top customer service and test drive this new and improved Civic at Honda San Marcos today!

ACL Fest's 15th Anniversary!

Posted by Jessica McFall on Tue, Jun 14, 2016 @ 08:49 PM

Celebrating its 15th year, Austin City Limits Fest is returning again this fall! The festival brings together the best of every genre of music ranging from country to hip-hop. This year in particular is a big anniversary year for ACL and there is a lot in store for those of you planning on attending. Honda of San Marcos is excited to talk about what to expect at the 2016 Austin City Limits Fest! (Tickets can be purchased here.)

A lot has happened in the 15 years that ACL has been a festival. It started out as a one-weekend festival and didn't change until 2013, when the Austin City Council members voted to it extended to not only two weekends, but also two consecutive three-day weekends. While most people come for the music scene, ACL has so many additional activities to discover!

Austin Eats

You can't visit Austin without the trying the delicious food offerings! Austin City Limits makes it even easier to try the city's cuisine by showcasing it onsite. Austin Eats was modeled after the New Orleans Jazz Fest's food court if that tells you anything about how extensive it is! There are options for everyone, even those of you who don't eat meat or wheat. Be sure to check out some of Austin's staple restaurants like Torchy's Tacos, Stubbs BBQ and Amy's Ice Cream.

ACL Cares

You're at the festival to have fun, of course, but Austin is a city that likes to give back and wants you to have the opportunity to do the same! Plus, they make it really simple to pay it forward. By going to the ACL Cares site, you can get involved in any of the organizations that best suit you and your interests.

ACL Art Market

What would Austin be without the talented art scene? Appreciate unique and inspiring pieces from local Austinites first-hand at the ACL Art Market, located conveniently in the center of Zilker Park. You as a festivalgoer will have the chance to walk through hundreds of creative, one-of-a-kind pieces to support these local artists!

The Honda Stage

Honda has been a proud sponsor of the Austin City Limits festival for several years now, and this year is no different. Every year, different artists perform on the Honda Stage, which uses the latest and most up-to-date technology on the premise. The Honda Stage is more than a performance; it's an experience that you don't want to miss. Find your way to the stage by heading toward the West end of Zilker Park!

ACL_Honda_Stage.png

"ACL Fest has been a yearly tradition for some of us at Honda of San Marcos, and we're always blown away at the incredible talent that comes through Austin every year," comments Rando Ammons, GM of Honda of San Marcos. "There are also so many opportunities for the community to be involved with this festival, and it's nice to see people from all over come together."

Whether you're a first time ACL Fest attendee or have been making the homage every year, ACL Fest's 15th Anniversary will be a special year for all. And, if you haven't already, check out what is to come on the ever-popular Honda Stage at ACL 2016!

2016 Accord vs. 2016 Sonata in San Marcos TX

Posted by Jessica McFall on Fri, May 13, 2016 @ 05:35 PM

Looking for a reliable but classic sedan? Honda of San Marcos welcomes you to another comparison where we fill you in on what's hot and what's not in the car industry. Today, we're checking out the 2016 Accord and the 2016 Sonata in San Marcos! What does each have to offer? Let's find out!

Both the Accord and the Sonata can tout acceptable safety ratings, but the Accord has Active Head Restraints that protect the front driver and passenger from whiplash, something that the Sonata doesn't offer at all, which sets it apart. In addition to the whiplash protection, the Accord has available parking sensors and was given the top rating of "Good" in the overall evaluation for the IIHS frontal offset crash test. The Sonata does not have parking sensors, and was rated only "Acceptable" in the IIHS crash test.

Did you know that there are 73% more Honda dealers than there are Hyundai dealers? Getting your car serviced in your Accord is significantly more convenient than getting your Sonata would be.

The J.D. Power and Associate's survey of owners of 3-year-old cars conclude that Honda cars were ranked 5th in reliability, while the Hyundai vehicles were ranted way low on the list, at 24th.

With the most basic 2016 Accord engine, you'll get 185 horsepower, which is great in the sedan market. With the Accord EX-L V6/Touring engine, you'll be riding with 278 horsepower! On the other hand, the 2016 Sonata's base engine gets only 178 horsepower, and it's top-of-the-line 2.0 turbo engine gets just 245.

The 2016 Accord, still in the sedan category, has a towing capacity of 1000 pounds! No need to borrow your brother's friend's truck the next time you need to pull something <1000 pounds. This is a perk that the Sonata unfortunately does not have!

It's not a secret anymore that Honda just has overall better technology options and features than Hyundai. With this being the case and to save time, we're listing technology features that the 2016 Accord offers as standard that the 2016 Sonata does not come standard with:

  • Standard remote vehicle starting system
  • Windows can be controlled from the key in the outside lock cylinder or the keyless remote
  • Standard speed-sensitive windshield wipers
  • Dual-zone air conditioning
  • Automatic air conditioning
  • Rear heating and cooling vents for backseat passengers

To sum it up, the 2016 Accord is hard to beat, even next to the 2016 Hyundai Sonata in San Marcos! Get behind the wheel of this new Accord by stopping in Honda San Marcos for a test drive today!

New Cars in San Marcos: 2016 Civic vs. 2016 Jetta

Posted by Jessica McFall on Tue, May 03, 2016 @ 08:03 PM

With summer right around the corner, it's a great time to drive around in one of the fabulous new cars in San Marcos! You may have already done some light research on several different vehicles, but Honda of San Marcos is here to tell you that your search ends here because the 2016 Civic is unmatched next to competitor cars. Today we're going to prove how great the Civic is by pairing its capabilities next to the 2016 VW Jetta!

The Civic has top-of-the-line technology.

The Civic, unlike the Jetta, offers a remote starting system, which allows you to start the vehicle from inside of the driver's house so your car is nice and toasty by the time you enter. And speaking of toasty, the Civic and Jetta both offer front heated seats, but the Civic Touring makes heated seats available to those passengers in the rear seats! Heated rear seats are not even an option in the Jetta.

The Civic has better safety features than the 2016 Jetta.

With the 2016 Civic, you can drive knowing that you're keeping yourself and your loved ones safe. The 2016 Civic has speed sensors AND seat sensors that will deploy the smart airbags with different levels of force depending on how fast you are going, and what size the person in the front seat is. Not to mention the optional lane departure warning system that alerts an inattentive driver that they are cruising into the wrong late.

Honda is made to be higher quality.

Honda has a name for quality, and it doesn't stop with the 2016 Civic. Honda was named 14th in initial quality by J.D. Power while Volkswagen was way down the list at number 23. On a similar note, the 2015 survey of 3-year-old car owners, Honda was ranked 5thin reliability, and Volkswagen, again down the list, as 21st.

There's room for everyone in the Civic.

Did you know the Civic is rated as a mid-size car by the EPA? The Jetta is only considered a Compact car because it is much smaller. In fact, you'll notice that the Civic has 3.7 cubic feet more passenger room than the Jetta does. In addition to that, the Civic's trunk lift-over height is 26.8 inches and the Jetta's is 28.2. This makes loading items in the Civic much more accessible.

It's unbeatable fuel economy.

Volkswagen may have been called out recently about cheating on the American air pollution tests, but Honda is doing quite the opposite. The 2016 Civic gets 31 city/42 hwy MPG* on average. The Jetta? 28 city/39 hwy MPG* and on top of that requires premium fuel.

Can you imagine driving anything other than the 2016 Honda Civic? We can't either! As far as new cars in San Marcos go, the Civic has everything you want in a new sedan, and more. Come out and check it out in person at Honda of San Marcos today!
